Since an early age I have been creating artwork on various surfaces using many different mediums and utensils. I’ve enjoyed working in foreign environments since my very first mural/installation that I presented to my mother and her best friend when I was only 4 years old. Over the years that followed I began to draw much inspiration from different life experiences and personal interests that have shaped my art into the craft it is today. From painting graffiti on trains to designing album covers I’ve enjoyed developing a style and body of work that I am proud to present to the public.
“Isn’t it MAGNIFICENT Peg!!” I exclaimed to my mom and sister’s godmother as she came through the front door of her lovely new home to view the interior walls and furniture of her family room with a fresh coat of lipstick, mascara, and nail-polish splattered about the place in a very abstract yet striking fashion. Although my ever so impressive vocabulary for a toddler had stunned her, Peg did not find this to be “magnificent”. What I had thought was a masterpiece at the time, seemed to really be more of a mess and disaster, that was only enjoyed by myself and Peg’s daughter, who was a year older than me and supposed to hold down the fort while our mothers went out on a short walk.
Firmly believing that I was on to something, I continued to explore my mark making strategies on and through other objects and surfaces to visually express anything that came into my head. Gathering experiences from constantly moving and traveling while growing up, I felt as though there was endless material to work with. I became very interested in native tribes and ancient civilizations and their cultures, outer-space and nature, animals and all forms of life in general, space and dimension twisting, all liquids, smoke, ectoplasm, spirits and spiritual energy, aliens, martial arts, handmade weapons, viruses, violence, architecture, decay, natural disasters, surgically gridded faces, and anything living or non turned inside out.
The aim for my current body of work is to bring the viewers who are not yet familiar with my work up to date with what I have been developing over the last few years, and to provide those who are familiar with my work a one of a kind visual experience to be remembered with a cohesive collection of paintings and on the spot installations created by a truly inspired individual.
